Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Below is a résumé of my professional profile.
I qualified as a solicitor in 1994 having majored in Law at the City of London University and undertaken Law Society Final exams at Guildford College of Law. Upon graduating, I took up a career within the legal sector and shortly after qualifying I began my training contract in my home city of Leicester, at the local Magistrates Court. I have practiced family law since then and have been based in the East Midland all my career.
I am now an Associate at Shoosmiths and spearhead the family team at our Nottingham office.
I qualified as mediator with the ADR group and achieved an outstanding evaluation from my assessors in April 2010. I gained accredited status in December 2015 via the Family Mediation Council. I a member of the Family Mediators Association and I am regulated by both this professional body and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Throughout my career I have worked at various local practices in the East Midlands and gained invaluable experience and knowledge in dealing with a range of clients who came from all walks of life.
I specialise in family law and finance, cohabitation and civil partnership breakups and all legal aspects relating to arrangements for children upon separation and divorce.
I have always been committed to encouraging a non confrontational approach to resolving family disputes by considering with my clients the various options available to them in resolving their problems. You don’t always have to go to Court. I can help you negotiate a sensible and fair agreement with your ex partner in my capacity as a solicitor or I can help you resolve your problems via the mediation route if this is suitable in your case. That way both the emotional and financial costs of your divorce and family breakdown can be minimised.
During the mediation process there will be pragmatic input from me with my years of experience as a family solicitor and I will help you:
• Define the issues
• Identify areas of agreement
• Clarify areas of disagreement
• Explore options
• Provide pragmatic guidance and legal information
• Evaluate options to help you reach agreement upon them.
At all times, I will remain impartial and will not take sides or make judgments on who is right or wrong. I will offer legal and financial information to you in a neutral way to help in the understanding of options but I cannot give you or your ex partner legal advice.
Research studies have shown that family disputes resolved via the mediation route are less acrimonious than those cases that are settled through the court system. Also, decisions made by you and your ex partner by agreement are more likely to be kept and adhered to, as opposed to court imposed Orders.
